As an organisation, MODA strives to embody a value system oriented around creativity, accessibility, and diversity in all its forms. Operating within an industry plagued by issues of tokenism, exclusivity, and excess heightens the need for us to actively tackle the woes of the fashion world head-on. In practice, this means collaborating to craft work that is challenging and original, and covers a wide range of topics and mediums. It means featuring models who reflect a full spectrum of bodies, races, and backgrounds. It means writing articles that highlight the vital stories which all too often go unheard, particularly of traditionally marginalized groups. Finally, it means working within our community to create a magazine truly grounded in the South Side. This work needs to be done not because we have to do it - which we do - but because we want to, and because every single MODA member is aligned around our shared value system.
